The project’s method of data collection is content analysis. The party programs and election manifestos of parties that are affiliated with the executive office, as well as speeches made by the prime ministers/presidents and ministers of foreign affairs in national and/or international meetings on foreign policy issues, make up the project’s raw data. This data are subjected to content analysis, and a novel cross-country data set is generated. In this framework, the unit of analysis is each speech text and/or party document, whereas the unit of measurement is each expression, indicated by a verb in the speech/document. Quantitative regression analyses will guide the project’s data analysis.
